Pastoral Care Ministries
The Pastoral Care Ministry of Macedonia UMC supports and nurtures the spiritual and emotional needs of our faith community that we may live into our call to be “A Caring Community of Faith.” The ministers offer counseling, visits, phone calls, and are available to respond at any time of need. Efforts are underway to organize a sustaining ministry of Pastoral Care to this congregation to create, oversee, and evaluate networks of pastoral care within the church in order to extend and strengthen their reach. If you are interested in serving on a Pastoral Care Council that would accomplish meeting the tremendous pastoral needs of this congregation in creative ways that would be tailored to the emerging needs of this community, please contact Reverend Carl Clark at carl.clark@duke.edu or call 851-1551.
Third Sunday Offering
Another long-standing tradition of our church is the Third Sunday Offering. The Missions Committee provides information on a different mission initiative each month and takes up an offering in each Sunday School class to support that mission. The particular missions normally enable our church to meet the conference’s Rainbow Covenant commitment, and they can also help provide financial support to church, local or emergency-type missions. Some examples of Third Sunday offerings include:
- Stop Hunger Now
- Raleigh Rescue Mission
- Food Bank of NC
- Society of St. Andrew
- Prison MATCH
- Summer Youth Ministries
- Support of UMC Missionaries
- ZOE (Zimbabwe Orphans Endeavor)
- Heifer International
- UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief)
Other Mission Groups
Other ministries and groups at Macedonia UMC that have projects and fundraisers within their groups that support the missions of Macedonia UMC are:
- United Methodist Women
- United Methodist Men
- Youth Fellowship (UMYF)
- Children’s Ministries
