Our preschool offers a child-centered, play-based curriculum in a non-punitive environment, where grace and empathy are used to guide children. We nurture and value the child’s individuality and place importance on building relationships with each child and family.
Our mission at Macedonia UMC Preschool is to provide developmentally appropriate activities through play. We strive to reduce transitions, allowing children to have choice and flexibility with substantial time for play. Teachers provide close guidance during the routines and activities of the day. Learning is facilitated through open ended play, where children’s individual interests are nurtured. Each age group includes activities that encourage creativity, imagination, exploration, problem solving, language development, self help skills, social/emotional development, and independence.

Things To Know
We ask that children bring a light snack and lunch from home, including a water bottle.
Allergies and sensitivities to food should be reported to the Director and included on all paperwork. Food allowed for snack/lunch will depend on current list of allergies. This list will be updated throughout the school year.
We highly value the importance of outside play. Outside play can be messy and wet! Children should plan to have rain coats and rain boots (for rainy day play) and a change of clothes (seasonally appropriate).
Our indoor activities can be messy as well. On a daily basis, we offer painting and sensory experiences (like water/sand play, homemade silly putty, mixing vinegar and baking soda, clay/playdough, etc.) just to name a few. Your child’s clothes will get dirty at our preschool, so please dress them accordingly!
